CSI Parish Kattakada
CSI Kattakada is one of the renowned parishes in South Kerala Diocese (SKD). By depending only on the name of Lord Jesus Christ (and there was none other to depend), the past 157 years witnessed the triumphant journey of the parish from slavery to liberty, from ignorance to civilization, from social inequality to equality and from illiteracy to literacy. The starvation, slavery, secondary citizenship and lot more stresses and other back sliding factors could not make even a minute change in the belief in Christ and prayerful life of our forefathers which were kindled by the missionaries. The past evangelists, vicars and leaders took painful efforts to intensify this light to show the right path to the laity and the society as a whole.
Today the parish stands in the society as a symbol of God’s resurrection of His people from darkness to His marvelous light. At present, the parish comprises of 655 families and 914 Eucharist members. For smooth management of the affairs of the parish, church committee of 11 members elected by the laity functions. The Church Committee represents all walks of life. Its members include farmers, retired teachers, government servants and self employed persons.
Under the patronage of the Vicars, different fellowships function in our Parish. They are also run by their respective elected committees.
CSI Kattakada is the biggest church in Kattakada. It also hosts the Kattakada parish district under CSI South Kerala Diocese. Currently, there are 14 parishes in Kattakada district.
All development projects and humanitarian activities undertaken by our parish are absolutely being financed by our members.
