Welcome to the Official Website of CSI Kattakada

A parish is the epitome and symbol of Christian love and fellowship. It was the divine will to found this parish in the heart of a small town which is growing rapidly. Our church and the laity could exercise a great influence on all shades of life in the society we live. The present generation strives hard to uphold this heritage and hand it over to the posterity.    

The CSI Parish in Kattakada was established in 1846 by the pioneering missionary Rev. John Cox.  It is one of the biggest parishes in South Kerala Diocese with more than 650 families in its fold. 

    Over the years our Parish has served the society in many meaningful ways and has been a powerful instrument in social and educational development

Announcements and Activities as on 12.04.2015

1. A Goodwill Gesture from Chicago: The CSI Congregation in Chicago, the USA, is celebrating the Silver Jubilee of their formation, this year. To commemorate this occasion, they have decided to get two homes constructed for the homeless poor in Kerala. Smt. Pushpa, Kattakode, a poor widow of our parish has been selected as one of the beneficiaries of this scheme. On behalf of the above family, CSI Kattakada expresses our gratitude to Rev. Lawrence Johnson, Presbyter, Church Committee and members of CSI, Chicago for this goodwill gesture. We also extend our greetings to them on the occasion of their Silver Jubilee. May their services bear a more testimony to the love of Christ.

2. Pulpit Change: A pulpit change of presbyters has been arranged in Kattakada Parish District, as a prelude to the SIUC Rally to be held at Trivandrum on 28th April, 2015. The SIUC floag was hoisted before the Sunday Service. Rev. John Valsakumar, CSI Poovachal, has visited our parish on 12.04.2015 and delivered the sermon, which highlighted the historical context of job reservation for the SIUC community, the challenges faced by us in the present context and the necessity to fight for protecting the same.

3. Bike Rally: A Bike Rally has been conducted by the CEYF, Kattakada Parish District on 12.04.2015, to announce the forthcoming SIUC Rally at Trivandrum. Hundreds of youth participated in the Rally. Rev. K.P. Mohandas, District Chairman and Shri. Anil Kumar, District Secretary, CEYF have led the Rally.

4. SIUC Proclamation Rally: The SIUC Proclamation Rally, announcing the SIUC Rally at Trivandrum on 28th April has been flagged off CSI Cheruvarakonam by Rt. Rev. A. Dhramaraj Rasalam, Bishop, CSI, South Kerala Diocese (SKD) on 12.04.2015. Shri. D. Lawrence, Secretary, SKD is leading the Rally. The Rally will visit the important centres and parishes from Parassala to Attingal, to highlight the importance of the forthcoming Rally. The Proclamation Rally will visit our parish on 14.04.2015 at 1.00 PM. All are requested to gather in our church courtyard to welcome this Proclamation Rally.

5. New Dioceses: CSI Synod held at Chennai from on 8th & 9th April, 2015 has decided to bifurcate CSI, SKD and form a new diocese with the name “Kollam-Kottarakara Diocese”. The new diocese will contain parishes and other institutions north of Attingal. Two other new dioceses will also be formed in Kerala, by bifurcating the existing dioceses. So far, the SKD has been the largest diocese in CSI. The bifurcation is an indication of the growth of CSI community in southern Karala.

6. VBS: The Vacation Bible School (VBS) of this year has been conducted in our parish from 04.04.2015 to 12.04.2015. The theme of this year’s VBS has been “A New Heart”. Evg. Nibin has been the VBS Director. Approximately 200 children participated. The last day has been observed as VBS Sunday, in which some of the VBS children presented some programmes. After the Sunday Service, the concluding function has been conducted in the TJM Hall. The children presented various programmes. Parents also attended.
