Christmas Celebrations 2013

Christmas was celebrated with traditional functions and vigour in our parish. Parish members from far and wide came in large numbers to participate in the celebrations.

Christmas Eve: The highlight of the Christmas Eve worship was a carol service by the Church Choir. The songs resembling the celestial songs sung by the angels in the night of Nativity filled everybody with joy and piety.

Rev: S.K. Shaji John delivered the sermon. He reminded the laity of the importance of sharing and caring during the Christmas celebrations. Rev. T. Devaprsad presided over.
A lorry procession proclaiming the birth of the Saviour visited the localities near our parish.
The campus of our parish was illuminated to mark the occasion.

Christmas Morning: The Christmas Day service was presided over by Rev. T. Devaprasad. Rev. S.K. Shaji John also attended. Rev. Daniel Josiah (CSI, Kanyakumari Diocese) delivered the key note message. He has stressed that “God’s favour” as mentioned in St. Luke Chapter 2, was experienced on the first Christmas Day by four groups of people; (1) the Magi who sought the God, (2) the Shepherds who sacrificed their comfort for God, (3) Mary who submitted to the supreme will of God and (4) Joseph who was prepared to forego his welfare and ego for the well-being of others, i.e., Mary in the instant case.

Christmas Fest: The Christmas Fest 2013 was celebrated at Christian College Ground, Kattakada from 21.12.2013 to 25.12.2013. It was marked by sales mela, cultural meetings and events. An inter-faith conference was held on 23.12.2013, which was graced by the representatives of Hidus, Muslims and various denominations of Christians. A “Kathapranagam” (story telling with the accompaniment of music) by the Lalit Kala Academy award winner Johny Marayamuttom was held on 24.12.2013.

A cultural procession was held in the after-noon of the Christmas Day, in which various Christian denominations in Kattakada took part. CSI Kattakada was declared the winner of the rally. In the Public Meeting that followed, Shri. N. Shakthan, Dy. Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly was the Chief Guest. Shri. Rijin Thomas, budding film director and Shri. Fanklin Mamoottil, winner of Gujarat Government’s award for Animal Husbandry (both our parish members) were felicitated.

A drama was presented by CSI Malayinkeezhu.
