Palliative Care

Palliative care is the branch of modern medicine which takes care of patients suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, AIDS etc.. The unit of palliative care in our parish was established in May 2009 as a result of the initiative of the CEYF. Its formally inaugurated by Sh. N Sakthan MLA. The vicar of the church is its ex-officio president. Sh. Jeevan S Joy was the first secretary.

The activities of palliative care include extension of medical aid to deserving patients, distribution of medicines, food, clothing and also providing financial assistance irrespective of their religion and creed. In some cases houses were constructed/renovated for the patients who are in receipt of aid from this organization. This initiative is entirely financed by the liberal minded laity of our parish.

The volunteers working under palliative care have been trained on various vocations. At present more than 40 volunteers are there in active service.

A palliative care clinic was inaugurated in our parish in September 2011. Under necessary circumstances the Doctor visits the patients at their houses.

The Present office bearers of palliative care are

Secretary: Shri. E. Viajaya Raj,

Accountant. Shri. Thomson Tr.

Committee Members: Shri. Shine Raj. C.D., Dr. (Smt.) Bini Girish.
